My Big Knitting Trip.....

My best friend Bearmaiden has tagged my son as the Moon, and how dark it was literally without him this week. I have realized that I miss my shadow when he's not around and how boring it is without him. Even though I have been very busy, I had missed him sorely. So when last night he came back from his mini vacation and I saw him My heart started beating happily again. I love my son and all I can say for all my friends out there that know me, I'm not a very affectionate person but my Moon makes me melt and I become all mushy. In the world of Shoefly today (as bearmaiden calls me) all is well as my Moon as come to shine in mommy's world again.

What is a girl to do when she sees something as beautiful as these:

She buys them! That's what I did yesterday. I was minding my business,having a sister bonding day and there we are in the Macy's shoe dept and I see these beauties staring at me( yes I know that shoes have a hypnotic effect on me).these are Michael Kors and they just were so different from your usual summer sandals, very classy and elegant. To top it off they were 65% off, yes 65% PERCENT OFF!. so I picked up those bad boys and they're all mine......

Then I come home and realized what I did so I pick up my knitting and excitedly start working on my lacy dress because I have to to keep myself entertained so I don't go back and go on the hunt for more shoes. I don't know if I loving my lace work, but I don't like to quit so I'm going to give this another couple of rounds before I throw in the towel on this one. I have ripped this piece a couple of times but I 'm getting the hang of it and I do love the dress.

This is the start of the bodice part and I can't find to many knitters that have tried it. So it's hard to find help or ideas.
So let me know what ya 'll think about it.........

Catching up on everything

It has been a fun and busy week. As I promise here are pictures from the spectacular Bronx Ball which my family was invited to because we're lucky to have a brother who is the organizer of the event. As you can see there were some celebrities that were inducted into The Bronx Hall Of fame for their achievements in any area of life(ie. TV, Film music etc. ). It was an absolute and spectacular and beautiful night at the beach. Kudoos to my bro.. for such a wonderful event....

And even though there has been much partying I still found the time to start my lace dress:

I 'm still trying to figure out how to pick up the stitches but hopefully I do that today and keep you posted.

My precious Moon is away and I miss him dearly. He is staying with one of my best friends in PA because I didn't have a babysitter this week and she offer so graciously to have him share some time with her boys which are almost the same age. I know he is having a great time but Mommy misses her shadow dearly.....

Like I promise I would start my knitting journey again, and I have. So here I am knittting along my Debbie Bliss cardigan when wowsa! Big Gaping Hole! Holy Manolo Blahniks what happen! So off I am to Rip Rip Rip...and and start again.

In the meantime I started swatching for my next year summer dress( and I say next year because we all know that it ain't gonna happen this year..)

The pattern recommends for a 20 stitch gauge per 4" a #6 needle. I'm getting 22 stitches so I need to go up a needle size. So off I go to try it again. Any recommendations?

Now I'm on my way to start getting pretty,as for tonight we're are heading towards the beautiful, swanky and fun Bronx Ball 2008 at Orchard beach. We're getting all dolled up for tonight. So I need to miraculously lose some lbs and reduce my stomach so I look perfectly coiffed and hot (dream on but I'll try) in my sexy dress and of course my shoes...Here's a little peak of course of my shoes for tonight(because we know that's priority)

Holy Bags!

These days have been busy but a good busy. Exercising, knitting(yes slowly but surely), and very little shopping. But alas my new discovery www.bagborroworsteal.com, it's a bag rental website where you can rent a bag and try it out and then return it after certain period(almost like netflix). Well I thought I would give it a try and I rented an inexpensive one for an evening event that I 'm having, and this is what I got:

I order this beautiful Lockheart Bag and it's breathtaking with the only exception that I didn't read the measurements and it's bigger than I thought but I will use and flaunt my bag around for a month and then return it. Now isn't that cool..... Have to go and rent a real evening bag.

I know..I know the title of my blog is My big Knitting Trip. But today I must tell you about this undivided lust for shoes that I have. I was searching the web when I came upon these beauties (It's all Bear Maiden's fault she was talking about shoes on our way home...). They are part of what I call my lusty dream( Yes I know lust dreams should have another subject, but this is my dream and don't ruin it!)

Happenings in a sleepy town

The neighborhood where I live is one of those old areas that many call a sleepy town. So there we were having breakfast at the local diner and we hear an explosion. Next thing you know a long beloved bar that has been in the island goes up in flames and the only pizza place on the City Island:

So cheers to Rhodes where I celebrated my wedding rehearsal.We always came to Rhodes after any celebration because it was home in the evenings for many of us. Where I met the best friends someone could ever have(Bearmaiden and my Crazy Connecticut Girl) and where we spent nights singing away and having a good time....

Today while looking to clean up my yarn stash and uploading pictures of my projects. I came upon my Italy pictures.

There she is in the midst of one of the most beautiful and breathtaking buildings that I have ever seen The Vatican. Full of tourists,noise and conmotion taking time to pray. At that moment all I could think was I hope I can find the peace that she does, and in that moment I did. Today looking back I realize that that once in awhile we need to stop and look for the moments....

Talk about reminiscing(I trying to use my Sunday vernacular and this word is frying my brains, but there I think I spelled it correctly...),I found another lost project go figure...I was planning this sweater for my birthday last year and duh.. It's past. But maybe I'll target for this year(it's only 3 months away)

The pattern name is called Fleur and it's from Jaeger I bought the book the same yarn required so far it looks cool. I'm going to work on it today.

When I look at my boy the Moon( Bear Maiden named him that)I realize that the teachers and the therapist are right when their telling me that he has a mild case of ADD. Yesterday as we're walking to the train after school I challenge him to five minutes without fidgeting while he walk to the train, LOL I couldn't control myself because I thought he was going to explode. I think it was the most excruciating 5 minutes of his short life. When the time was over he just went into a shake and itch fest and felt much better. But why do I bring this subject up because I truly believe like my Moon I have adult ADD . I can't concentrate on any task for too long for example on my obsessions. My new obsession:

I love this thing,I spend now my time on this phone ...Not making phone calls but adding software and just playing with it. I have added TWITTER which I spend my time following people around. I 'm trying to find more knitters on twitters(cool rhyme...). So if you twitter while you knit follow me and I'll follow you (sounds stalkish but it's fun!).

But as always I try to see where my knitting fits in all of this and of course my shoe obsession. Here are the new ones that I am now drooling about:

Whew this is hard work but I'm trying and enjoying it again here's my post for the day a tad bit long , but I call it a catch up post. I'm promise I won't bore you as I hate when there is a lot rambling going on(Blame it on short attention span!). I will keep it short and simple. Enjoy...

This is one those projects that I have started and it's in progress I just picked it up again and I'm tooting along....

It's the Debbie Bliss Empire Line Sweater done in Alpaca Silk. I'm loving this one....

Now I'm proud that I finish this one:
The infamous Mermaid Gloves done in Koigu. I took my inspiration from a blogger name Catduck (Which by the way she moved her blog and I can't find it, does anybody know if she is still blogging I loved her site)

I gave these as a birthday present to my dearest friend BearMaiden she loves quirky things and these just look like her. I'm glad she loved them, I think now I have to make some for myself but.....I have to finish this before I continue:

I have been trying to finish this for Hubbie and I promise myself I'm goingto try to finish it before this winter. I better step up to the plate it's May already.....

When it comes to knitting that's what I have so far that's concrete. I have a lot of WIP but I swear I have some sort of ADHD because I can't concentrate on anything( Like right know I'm blogging and checking my Twitter)

I tell my friends that they have to focus but I'm in the same boat I can't. Today I'm taking the buddies exploring again. We went to the beach last week but the Sun didn't get to go(Sun is BearMaiden's cub) But hopefully he'll be ready before the end of the day so we can go.

The other two cubs, mine and my neighbors(Moon and Dreamy) are ready and they are just waiting so I 'll see you later.........

Time flies when you're stress....

Well it has been almost two years that I started blogging. Life throws curve balls at you and you realize that they're more important things in life and that you have to stop and smell the flowers or shoes if you're a shoe lover like I am....
So what has happen...I decided to take a high polluting job that took the life out of me and took all my creative desires and whimsical ideas. Yes I was a corporate fiend .....
But alas on April 7th, 2008 I said no more and walk out(yikes!)and since then I have been soul searching and regaining my sanity.
I know my girlies are proud of what I did and I'm proud of myself ,scared but proud. I took a stance and decided that being poor and happy(without no new shoes !) is better than money and no time( to buy new shoes.....) .
So in the next couple of weeks you shall see the fruits of my labor and soul searching. But in the meantime last year I did a trip that will be forever in my heart. I went to Italy with my sis and it was the greatest sister bonding experience.

Of course on and off my Knitting WIP are hopping along I will post some more pictures during the week.

Hello.....I am back!

No I haven't lost the urge of blogging, nor the love of Knitting. But it has been a whirlwind of 2 months. I started a new job and even though I like my new job it has been ever so consuming.... But I decided that I need my life back and my therapeutic knittng break,therefore going forward I will not let no job, no kids homework,no husband get between me and my blogging and knitting! So there I have stated my new years resolution, yes I am going to become a happy knitter, lock myself in a tower with no cleaning , no tending to kids or family, no pets, no worries about my wight, no worries about work,just knit,knit knit.....( And that is a wonderful dream!). Now really I am going to start knitting more. Here is a sample of what I have been working on this week.

I Pick up my husband's Sweater again and I am on fire up and besides I keep listening to the little hints "how is my sweater coming along ?"

Another Shopping Spree...

Another moment of weakness I must say. There I am getting ready to go to work and before I leave like all normal folks we check our bank balance specially if it's payday. So after I do this I start surfing the web for 5 minutes and Behold.... I see this website with Rowan Yarn at 50% off..So what does my mind say "You must have and need to buy". Out comes the Credit Card and Ta daa...

I bought Rowan Yokshire Tweed in Goose and Slosh
10 skeins of Slosh and 7 skeins of goose . (Why not 10 of goose? I am still questioning my call about that one....)But what a great yarn,so Iam recking my brain what should I knit,since I don't have enough WIP's(yeah Right....). I decide and here it is: I present the Central Park Hoodie:

This Hoodie is from the Knit Scene Fall issue. Now I must say I do have other WIP's to finish but as usual I will just start this one because I swatched the yarn already and I can't wait to see how it looks. I promise I will knit a couple of rows and put it away....( Haven't we all said that before!)

So I went shopping in a matter of minutes to a website that I had visited but never tried WEBSand the prices were so good that I bought these goodies

I bought Rowan Big Wool Tuft and Jaeger Trinity and Knit One Angora (this was 1.50 a skein I bought 15!)

Then I go to my favorite yarn store and bought More Rowan Kid Silk Haze( like I need more...) because I love the color.Even though I am taking a vacation off my Butterfly project because we had a fall out and I decided to put away for a while (I will post about my rant when I can think clearer about my frogging episode, the least I could say that it was uuugly!)

But..But then I go window shopping and OMG I see the shoes of my dreams..(but I dream of shoes all the times..)and of course I need a handbag to match. Michael Kors is a great designer and his styles are so classy and understated. Need I say why am I drooling and hoping.....

Now let me go back to my other favorite subject because my senses are in overload
Since that's not enough I go webshopping (I don't know if that's a term but it suits me fine..)and here is the the project that's making my brain go on overload and forget about my other WIP,the yarn in my stash, in addition to the yarn that I just shopped for. It's the RYC Handbag in the Style Pattern book,oooh itsn't it pretty...

Needless to say I have been busy frogging ,shopping ,dreaming and salivating. Oh well back to taking care of the kids, one is screaming for Ice Tea. I will try to come back tommorrow and talk about my sorrows with the Kid Silk Haze and the Butterfly Pattern.

Well the month of September came with a bang. In less than a week a got an unexpected new job, which I never thought I would get! That was great! In terms of knitting I was working on Rowan Butterfly and in a hissy fit moment I grab a pair of scissors and went to town! No there are no pictures because after that moment of anger I realize that I had thrown it in the garbage! After I calmed down I realize what I had done. Oh well....

So I decided to try to finish another project that makes my husband feel a little of a Brit. It's from Jaeger Matchmaker DK and it's call Lennon

So far it's going well without no hiccups. Of course when your attention span is that of a fly you need another project . So what else am I knitting , another clapotis in Berroco Suede.

This yarn is pretty cool I love how the stitches come out. I can't wait until it's finished. But anyway that's my little rant for now....

Lets say that England is not my all time favorite place to travel but since I have been knitting I have been wanting to go again... I went to England during my Honeymoon(It's my hubby's all time favorite place!) and although it was wonderful, I still didn't consider it my favorite.

Now here I am reading my favorite Knitting Magazine and voila! a Knitting Festival in England!

I showed this to my husband and he was hysterical laughing because I my excitement of wanting to go back to England Well I think I am going to research this more, but wouldn't it be fun to go. I think it would be a knitters dream.... Whatcha think?...

A Beautiful and Fun Sunday.......

After a wonderful Saturday with my husband. I decided to have an absolutely fun day with My Buddy... My boy(Center Picture). We Went to the NYC Hong Kong Boat Festival in Flushing Meadows Park,Queens. What a colorful and beautiful activity. We were amazed by the boat races and the ablity of these rowers to row to the beat of a drum. ALso the rowers seem to be of all ages and all backgrounds. The dances and the dragon and SHogun demonstration were also fun to watch. Needless to say as in everything in NYC it was crowded but not annoying, everybody was enjoying the beautiful day. I must say NYC is the melting pot of the world....It amazing how many different cultural backgrounds you see enjoying the celebration of maybe a different culture than yours. This is why I Love NY!

Wine, Wine and Wine!

So we're off to land of wines and sophistication... To celebrate our 10th aniversary hubby and I decide to go with another couple to a winery.We chose at the last minute to go to The North Salem Wine and Food Festival. What an experience! First and foremost my thoughts were we are going to be extreeeemely happy by the end of the festival, but rest assure it doesn't happen... Because part of the deal is you only taste and throw out the rest(what a pity!)But it was a great first wine tasting experience....

I walk the vineyard and it's impossible to capture the beauty of the vineyard in a couple of pictures ,so here is a sampler of what I did, all with a glass of wine in my hands walking through the vineyards. Yep Yep Yep and all with balance and steadiness......

And here is hubby posing next to the tractor. City Boy forever!!!!

And after a day of wine and food we walk into the sunset with our loot... around 15 bottles of different wines. My favorite was Sweet Red from North Salem Vineyards and Blush from Benmarl Vineyards

Yippee! Back to hotel to get Reeally happy.. Catch my drift....

Work continues to progress on the Butterfly I finish one of the fringes. Only a couple of points to remember: Darning Needles are absolutely necessary in order to do those P2tog and P3tog. Also please go slow if a stitch drops just hold your breath... walk away..... come back and go for it.

Just remember it 's going to be beautiful......

Uh-oh another project here comes the Butterfly.....

In my busy and life full of WIP I have caved and started the Rowan Butterfly Pattern from the Rowan Magazine #37. I was inspired by Domesticat's Blog. I saw her butterfly top and I had to make it.... That darn Pattern....So Beautiful and Capitivating...

So I started the fringe, which is the bottom and I was in for a surprise!. First I learn that you can't rush. I had to go slowly, no distractions,no TV and no Husband trying to have a conversation.... Because if I loose my place I am doomed and don't even try to Frog! it it hellish... But you know what I am still loving it.
